I ask new clients to answer the following questions before we begin our coaching work together. By setting clear intentions, the best outcomes are achieved. The answers below are paraphrased from one coaching client's responses.
1. Results: The results I most want out of coaching are…
"To feel reinvigorated, and explore the bountiful possibilities I've created for myself. My days have gotten a little empty and I don't want to get used to that. I feel best when I'm doing something productive. I'd like to figure out daily and/or weekly steps I can take to explore new directions and keep boredom at bay. As well as examining my decision-making process and why it can keep me stagnant."
2. The “WHY”: What’s most important to me about this is…
"I want an enriched life – one that leads by example, prioritizing creativity instead of the status quo. I don't want to be held back by societal norms and expectations. I want to reach my full potential while enjoying life to the max."
3. Breakthroughs: Ways I hope to learn and grow through coaching include…
"Working through assumptions that keep me from engaging in community and relationships
Examining why I am reluctant to fill my calendar
Identifying the judgments and reasons I think things are not worth my time
Understanding why I fear stepping out on my own
Taking baby steps forward"
4. Measurement of success: I’ll know I’m getting my investment’s worth when…
"I am thinking more openly and engaging with people, community, and activities that inspire me."
5. My declaration: I’ll make sure this coaching relationship is successful by…
"Showing up ready, willing, and excited for what's ahead."
