Coaching client “Gina” managed an 85+-employee cannabis cultivator/manufacturer when I started coaching her. She felt boxed in by her unconventional job when considering exiting the pot business and going mainstream. She said she needed to “reconcile white collar vs blue collar” as she saw herself as an "outsider". During our work together, Gina realized her accomplishments, experience, and leadership skills were transferable and valuable to any industry. We developed a course of action, identified career paths, set priorities, and dealt with a back-burnered chronic health condition. Now, she is a public health consultant for a national organization.

Realizations and Actions Taken:

  • Made herself and her commitment to social equity a priority

  • Signed up for professional training in her field of interest

  • Created scripts prior to job interviews to keep her thoughts in order

  • Shifted from interview overwhelm to highlighting abilities and achievements

  • Researched her medical insurance coverage and found a specialist

  • Stopped talking about the past as if it was her future

  • Set up a nutrition tracking app and food calendar
