MY LOVE OF LIFE PODCAST
Anna Scott, dear friend and wise woman, interviewed me for her podcast My Love of Life Energy. Listen here for my unconventional take on embodiment. How do we embrace love and acceptance? How do we allow compassion to flow freely through our veins? How do we help, grounded and delighted, for what needs attention and love?

SVP LEADING UP, DOWN, & FROM WITHIN
Great leaders often have difficulty balancing corporate life with their values. Coaching client “Denise” felt squeezed. She had to exceed expectations while, at the same time, shield her direct reports from the fire drills, whims, hissy fits, and deceit of upper management. Questions Denise explored during coaching: What do I love to do? What am I here to contribute? What am I good at? What’s my purpose? Realizations and Actions Taken: Created community through a women’s le

WEED BOSS TO PUBLIC HEALTH ADVOCATE
Coaching client “Gina” managed an 85+-employee cannabis cultivator/manufacturer when I started coaching her. She felt boxed in by her unconventional job when considering exiting the pot business and going mainstream. She said she needed to “reconcile white collar vs blue collar” as she saw herself as an "outsider". During our work together, Gina realized her accomplishments, experience, and leadership skills were transferable and valuable to any industry. We developed a cou

MEDITATION: Grounding
Everything is changing. Seasons. The color of our hair. The state of the world. Just yesterday, we were running for student council. learning to read, or winning that grant. We try to hold on, but the days slip through our fingers, nevertheless. Our freedom lies in receptivity, surrender, and stability. For the Grounding Meditation, start by bringing your attention to your feet on the earth. 1. Come into a comfortable seated position, ensuring your spine is straight, should

ACTS OF RESISTANCE
During difficult times, love, kindness, and truth are acts of resistance and personal freedom. We can befriend what grips us. Practice mind taming techniques. Look for experienced and caring assistance. Cultivate wise hearts that can hold it all. Act from generosity and mutual care. Take a little time to smell the roses.

HIDING IN PLAIN SIGHT
I bought this purple wig for Halloween to shape shift into someone else, if just for a night. I discovered that my purple alter ego is actually me. Without the judgement and mores of society breathing down my neck, I embrace my wild spirit and tender heart. Who or what inside of you wants to come out and play?

WHEN THINGS FALL APART
We might not like it... But, according to "Life is in the Transitions: Mastering Change" by Bruce Feiler, transitions and disruptions occur around every 12-18 months. Feiler reports that about one in ten disruptions becomes a "lifequake," or massive transition. Such as a serious illness or accident, divorce, career change, job loss, or death. Ugh! These lifequakes will happen three to five times in a person's life, last an average of five years, and result in spending roughly

PHILOSOPHER AT STARBUCK'S
Wisdom arrives in all shapes and sizes. Including our Starbuck's cashier in Auburn. He delivered a sweet response to my, "How are you?" He said, " I'm living the dream. Slaying the dragon and saving the princess". Translation: "Living the dream" : Fulfilling one's aspirations and purpose. "Slaying the dragon" : An obstacle to overcome, understand, or befriend to ensure forward motion. "Saving the princess" : The object of rescue, such as a precious treasure, community, or som

STRAW INTO GOLD
What if what's got you baffled, anxious, mad, or miserable (straw) becomes a lifelong practice opportunity for greater understanding, reverence, and self-compassion (gold)? I'm not talking about self-improvement. But, rather, about making the choice to step back, breathe, notice, and release our grip on how things are supposed to be. In doing so, no matter how difficult, grace, ease, and love have space to emerge and lead the way. For example: One client, a hospice nurse, was

A TIMELESS REQUEST
"Be a light unto yourself; betake yourselves to no external refuge. Hold fast to the Truth. Look not for refuge to anyone besides yourselves". – Buddha Shakyamuni "The answers lie within you". Many have spoken of this. From Viktor Frankl and Rumi to Heraclitus . We were trained to ignore our own council. Go with the program. Blend in. Don't rock the boat. Follow the leader. Keep quiet and look intelligent. Stick to the script. Tow the line. Soul Essent is here to help you rep
